Inspiration and Impact at Our 20th anniversary Gala Ball

On the 17 October we held our 20th anniversary gala ball, it was a fantastic glamourous night which was held in the Titanic Hotel in Belfast the event was generously supported by the ARN foundation. It was filled with reflection over the last 20 years and inspiration for the future vision of the National Autistic Society NI. The night included an emotional chat with Julie Tipping, the mother of a young person we support and an Inspirational speech from Claire Burke, an autistic advocate. We would like to thank everyone who attended and was a part of our special evening, we raised an amazing grand total of - £100,457
This will go toward supporting so many families and individuals who rely on our services.
The National Autistic Society NI was delighted to host the Gillan family in October along with their family and friends at our new Randalstown centre. The Gillan family very generously provided funding for the land and the build of the new centre. The centre is almost complete, all 3 gardens are now finished. We have inset trampolines, swings, water features, a peace pod garden room, an outdoor sensory pod, gym equipment and numerous seating areas throughout. We have our sensory room and state of the art immersive suite completed and also some sensory equipment now in place for our larger mutifunctional rooms. We are delighted with the progress and excited for our services to begin!

We are extremely thankful to Mills Selig law firm who facilitated another fully booked session in our Carryduff centre on wills & trusts. Everyone found the session really helpful and informative. One person said "Thank you so much, the National Autistic Society NI has always been there for us, from the early days with activities and summer schemes when J was young, to advice and support throughout his years growing up and now to help us plan for the future, it is so appreciated" Mills Selig are also facilitating another session in our Randalstown centre on the 12 November 6:30pm-8pm. We would like to address the fearmongering statements president trump made stating the use of paracetamol/tylenol while pregnant causes autism. This statement is nothing more than scaremongering and completely stigmatises autistic people and their support network. Large-scale studies have shown that there is no robust, scientific evidence to support this claim. We understand that these statements will cause upset to autistic people, and their support systems, we urge those effected to seek out information from trusted sources such as the NHS and our website. |
