Let’s Get SEND Right
The Government has now published its 2026 Schools White Paper which includes plans for how it will reform the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system.
In February 2026, the Government launched its Schools White Paper, proposing big changes to how mainstream schools provide support to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a once in a generation opportunity for the Government to provide much-needed changes to an education system that has failed far too many autistic children and young people.

What's next?
- The Government will look at all the consultation responses from the public, and make final decisions about their proposals.
- In the autumn, we expect the reforms to start being debated by MPs before being passed through parliament to become law. Changes can still be made to the reforms during this process. We will be watching closely and advising Ministers and MPs using your responses to our education surveys, and the stories, hopes and fears you’ve shared about the education system
