Write your free will
Carol’s story
The National Autistic Society changed my life. It changed my daughter’s life. Her name is Georgina.
First, they helped me during my teaching career.
As a practitioner, I appreciated the advice from their website and benefited from training materials, developed with decades of experience by autism specialists.

Years later, when Georgina was diagnosed as autistic, frustrated at a medical system which had no answers, I had to give up my job as a headteacher. I felt so lost and overwhelmed, but the team at the National Autistic Society were there for me - providing me with support, access to training and other brilliant resources on their website.
They were there for me in my fight against Georgina’s high school and the local authority, and when I fought for the right to the education provision that she deserved.
I am leaving a gift in my will to the National Autistic Society, so that many others can benefit in the way I did, and we can continue towards our common goal of a society that really works for autistic people. You can play your own part by kindly leaving a gift in your will to the National Autistic Society.
Thank you,
Carol

The free wills offer only covers the cost of creating a simple will, and would not include a discretionary trust. Additionally, the solicitors that the National Free Wills Network will refer you to will not necessarily be specialised in creating a discretionary trust, especially one made on behalf of an autistic loved one with additional needs. Therefore, if you are thinking about creating a trust for an autistic loved one, we would recommend you to get in touch with our Wills & Trusts Phone Service who can arrange an initial phone call with a specialised solicitor, and also provide you with a list of solicitors who have informed us they can help write a trust for a vulnerable loved one.
