Main information

Service categories: Counselling and therapies

Supportive Counselling Ltd is a counselling and psychotherapy practice specialising in working with neurodivergent individuals in a genuinely neuro-affirming, respectful, and adapted way. We are a team of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who support neurodivergent children, young people, and adults, alongside clients exploring trauma, anxiety, burnout, identity, relationships, and emotional overwhelm.

Neurodivergence is not viewed as a problem to be fixed within our practice. Instead, we recognise neurological difference as a valid and meaningful way of experiencing the world. Our work is grounded in understanding autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s, and wider neurodivergent experiences — including sensory differences, masking, autistic and ADHD burnout, rejection sensitivity, alexithymia, monotropism, and nervous system overload.

A core part of our neuro-affirming approach is that therapy adapts to the client, not the other way around. This means sessions are shaped around individual sensory needs, communication preferences, processing styles, and energy levels. Clients are not expected to maintain eye contact, mask their traits, or fit into rigid therapeutic structures. We work collaboratively to create sessions that feel safe, manageable, and respectful — whether that involves adjusted pacing, structure, creative or non‑verbal approaches, or clearer boundaries and expectations.

As a team, our counsellors and psychotherapists work integratively and relationally, drawing from a range of therapeutic models while remaining person‑centred and trauma‑informed. This allows us to respond flexibly to each individual rather than applying a one‑size‑fits‑all model of therapy. Many clients come to Supportive Counselling Ltd after feeling misunderstood, mislabelled, or exhausted by services that were not designed with neurodivergent experiences in mind. Our aim is to offer something different — therapy that feels attuned rather than overwhelming.

We are particularly mindful of the emotional impact of long‑term masking, late diagnosis or self‑identification, internalised shame, and experiences of being told you are “too much”, “not enough”, or “difficult”. Within our practice, difference is respected, autonomy is prioritised, and clients are met with curiosity and care rather than judgement.

Supportive Counselling Ltd offers sessions face‑to‑face and online, with flexibility wherever possible. Working as a team also means we can help match clients with a therapist whose approach, communication style, and experience best suits their needs.

Whether you are neurodivergent yourself, supporting a neurodivergent child or young person, or beginning to explore what neurodivergence means for you, Supportive Counselling Ltd provides a therapeutic space where you do not need to mask, perform, or explain yourself to be taken seriously.
