Spreading awairness doing more research and having understanding and compassion for those who are not heard in todays society.I pledge to understand more and more and to try help raise more much needed awairness.Im nuerodivergent also and can relate to many whom struggle to be heard and many like myself who are misunderstood effecting mental health and everyday challenges Most of all we have super powers so i like to highlight this and the great things we can do

I try to show up in my role as a Student Nurse, ensuring autistic patients are heard and supported by accommodating reasonable adjustments. As an autistic/neurodivergent individual myself, I am passionate about acceptance and inclusivity - and very fortunate to be able to advocate raising awareness; it’s exhausting trying to ‘fit in’.

Allowing time for them to process or space for them to regulate.
Shifting your expectations and making it clear that, that’s OK.
Advocating for autistic colleagues in the workplace and the world.
There are so many simple, everyday ways you can make a huge difference while helping to build a kinder, more supportive world for everyone.

I will continue to advocate for my non-verbal autistic son. I will be mindful of other people's needs and will always try to be inclusive and understanding. I will continue to better my knowledge surrounding autism to be able to educate those around me to promote equal opportunities and happy lives for everyone

Restaurants can be overwhelming
The public and restaurant owners can show up by:
Being kind if you notice someone struggling in a busy environment. A supportive look can make a big difference
Doing things to reduce noise and bright lights. Autistic people can be more sensitive, so think about turning down music and having areas with different lighting
Offering quiet dining areas
Giving autistic people time to process information and make decisions such as what to choose from the menu
Working towards our Autism Friendly Award, to ensure your staff know how to help autistic people and your premises are autism-friendly
