Kit Lawes - Data Operations Officer

I started volunteering with the Data Operations team at the National Autistic Society in July 2024, hoping to give something back and support a cause that really matters to me, and volunteering one day a week felt like a great place to start.
My role focused on handling post - scanning, sorting, and keeping everything organised. I found a lot of satisfaction in getting things done and being part of a welcoming and supportive team.
In February 2025, I was offered a full-time role as a Data Operations Officer. Volunteering had given me the opportunity to show what I could do, grow in confidence, and step back into a focused, meaningful work environment where I could thrive.
Outside of the office, I help run local events with the Richmond branch of the National Autistic Society. I’ve also been co-running a neurodivergent social group called ND Smiley for over a year now. It’s a space for autistic and neurodivergent people to connect and be themselves in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Supporting the autistic community is something that means a lot to me. Volunteering gave me the chance to turn that passion into practical support, and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
