Previous research projects
ATAG (Autism Transition to Adulthood Groups)
Led by University College London, this project aimed to improve support for autistic young people as they transition to adulthood, by trialling an online peer support group programme.
AUDIT-50
Led by University College London, this project focused on the experiences and challenges that older autistic people living in England face. It aims to understand how often autism goes undiagnosed in those aged 50+ and the physical and mental health needs of older autistic people
Autism Awareness campaign survey
The National Autistic Society launched a campaign to challenge current perceptions of autism and help create a more accepting society. To enable the campaign to be shaped by autistic people, we commissioned a survey of autistic people, and those who support autistic people, as an important first step in gathering their perspectives and insight.
BRIDGING (Breakthrough interview extended reality training towards reducing the autism employment gap)
Led by University of Plymouth, this project pilots the use of Virtual Reality (VR) to help autistic people experience job interviews and new job scenarios in a safe and adaptable environment. Similarly, VR scenarios for employers will be created to aid understanding of adjustments and support for autistic employees. The aim is to help autistic people in the UK to feel prepared and supported in obtaining and sustaining a job.
Empowering Autistic Travel
This research was an in-depth exploration of autistic people’s experiences of travel and transport, to gain a better understanding of:
- barriers to comfortable, safe travel;
- the impact those barriers cause;
- and possible solutions to make services more accessible and autism friendly.
Health Checks for Autistic Adults
Led by Newcastle University, this study investigated the use of a co-designed health check to improve health outcomes. The health check was co-designed with autistic people, carers and supporters of autistic people, and Primary Care professionals.
