New Vision to Reality Scotland strategy launched
We are delighted to launch our refreshed Vision to Reality Scotland strategy for 2026-2030. The strategy sets out how we will support autistic people and their families, influence change and work towards a more inclusive Scotland in the years ahead.
Over the past few years, we have worked alongside autistic people, families, supporters, staff and volunteers to help hundreds of people across Scotland access life-changing support. We have also championed autistic voices, ensuring lived experience shapes our services, campaigns and influencing work.
While we are proud of what has been achieved, we know there is still much more to do.
Too many autistic people continue to face long waits for assessment and support, facing barriers to education and employment.
At the same time, narratives around autism have become more hostile and confused, with inaccurate claims about causes and cures, damaging narratives about “overdiagnosis” and autistic people’s rights being increasingly treated as a battleground within the media and political debate.
Rob Holland, Director of the National Autistic Society Scotland, said:
“Our refreshed strategy responds to these challenges and sets out how we will meet them head on, both through direct support and by influencing decision-makers and public attitudes.
“We must also consider the communities in which people live as we seek to develop support and create a more inclusive Scotland. I'm excited about our new strategy and the direction it takes us in, but it is ambitious, and we cannot do this alone. We will, therefore, continue to take a collaborative approach, working alongside autistic people, their families and all the allies and partners we work with.”
