This Membership Policy outlines the terms and conditions for joining and maintaining membership with the National Autistic Society. It explains eligibility, benefits, responsibilities, and key processes, ensuring a fair and transparent experience while supporting the Society’s mission.
1. Eligibility
Membership is open to individuals who are aged 18 or above, who support the objectives of the National Autistic Society and agree to comply with this policy.
2. Membership
Benefits Members are entitled to the benefits available at the time of joining, which may include exclusive access to resources, newsletters, events, and community support. Membership benefits may change at any time at the discretion of the National Autistic Society.
3. Membership Fees
Membership fees are payable at the time of joining and are non-transferable. This means memberships cannot be shared, transferred, or reassigned to another individual once purchased.
4. Renewal and Grace Period
Membership runs for the period stated at the time of joining and will expire at the end of the paid membership term, unless renewed. Direct debits will automatically renew. If a membership lapses due to non-renewal, a three-month grace period will apply, during which the member may continue to access member benefits, including Your autism magazine, members-only facebook group and webinars. After this period, access to member benefits will end unless the membership is renewed.
5. Code of Conduct
Members are expected to behave respectfully and appropriately in line with the values of the National Autistic Society. Members are expected to behave respectfully and appropriately in line with the values of the National Autistic Society. This includes communicating in a considerate and inclusive manner, respecting the dignity and experiences of others, and contributing positively to member spaces, including but not limited to the members Facebook group, webinars and AGM. Inappropriate behaviour may include, but is not limited to, harassment, discrimination, bullying, hate speech, offensive or abusive language, intimidation, sharing harmful or misleading information, or any conduct that may cause distress to others or damage the reputation of the organisation. The National Autistic Society reserves the right to cancel or suspend a membership if a member’s conduct is deemed inappropriate, harmful, or inconsistent with the organisation’s values or guidelines.
6. Cancellations
Members may cancel their membership at any time. If you would like to cancel your membership, please contact us on 0808 800 1050, and let us know your full name, membership number and reason for cancelling.

7. Refunds
A refund of your latest membership fee payment will be issued if requested within three months of the payment. No refunds will be given for cancellation requests made after three months from the date of payment, including where membership is cancelled due to a breach of this policy.

The National Autistic Society reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. Members will be informed of significant changes where appropriate.
