I am a BABCP accredited therapist, providing CBT, EMDR and Compassion Focused Therapy to neurodivergent adults experiencing low self-esteem, anxiety, depression and trauma.
I am a neurodivergent therapist with a neurodivergent family. I both lived experience and clinical experience in working with neurodivergent conditions including autism and ADHD. As a late diagnosed mother of two children, I have formed a true understanding of what it means to live with executive dysfunction, sensory processing difficulties and challenges with daily living and social interactions. I have completed various training courses to aid my professional understanding and delivery of adapted therapy for neurodivergent adults; this includes a level 2 course in Understanding Autism and specialist training for adapting CBT for clients with Autism and ADHD. In recent years, I have helped numerous clients who are either diagnosed, self-identify or are awaiting diagnosis.
I adopt a neuro-affirmative approach that adapts traditional therapy to help people to better understand themselves and their neurodivergent mind whilst building self-compassion and learning new ways to live authentically in a world that’s not built with their needs in mind. Many clients report feeling a greater sense of self-acceptance and less self-criticism related to the things that they thought they ‘should’ or ‘ought’ to be able to do whilst utilising a strengths based approach to maximise therapeutic gains.
I can also help with exploring whether you are showing signs of ASC using the DSM-5 and AQ10 and signposting you to the relevant pathway for assessments if desired. My experience also supporting and signposting parents to relevant services for children who are suspected neurodivergent. I also work from an attachment based framework, understanding the relationship between responsive parenting and co-regulation and the challenges that are encountered when parenting neurodivergent children, whilst experiencing those challenges as a neurodivergent parent.
