North Tyneside CAMHS offers a mental health service to children and young people aged 0 - 18, and their families. The team sees children and young people for a wide variety of reasons including emotional problems (such as anxiety or depression), behavioural problems (such as ADHD), developmental disorders (such as autism spectrum disorders) and educational/social difficulties (such as school refusal or peer relationship problems). Your child will see the professional with the skills most suitable to helping them, but some of the people they could see include a Psychiatrist, a Clinical Psychologist or a Social Work Therapist. There are also specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurses and an Art Therapist working in the teams. There are three teams for children and young people aged 0 - 16 based at Balliol in Longbenton, Albion Road Clinic in North Shields and Shiremoor Resource Centre in Shiremoor. There is also an adolescent team based at Sir G.B. Hunter Hospital in Wallsend who see young people aged between 15 and 18 and their families from across North Tyneside.
Assessment procedure: Referral into CAMHS then if appropriate multi-disciplinary assessment undertaken.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Clinical psychology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Speech and language therapy,.
