Muntham House School is an all-through special school, providing boarding and day provision for boys aged 5-18 years old. The school is set in 23 acres of beautiful West Sussex countryside, with excellent sporting facilities and an extensive Forest Schools programme. The equipment and facilities are state-of-the-art across the school, supporting pupils to learn. Our dedicated staff team are both highly trained and experienced in working with pupils with SEN. The dedication and commitment that the staff team show to all the pupils are excellent.
Muntham House School specialises in pupils with Autism, ADHD, Trauma and other SEN conditions. Whatever stage of learning our pupils are at when they arrive academically, the staff will work hard to motivate and engage them in order that they re-engage and start to enjoy learning again. All of our pupils take GCSE examinations, and we have a 100% pass rate for the past six consecutive years. At 16, pupils join Post-16, where they study vocational and academic qualifications to become work-ready and employable when they leave at 18.
Our residential programme provides life skills and independence to all boarding pupils. Care staff focus on developing pupils’ confidence and raising their self-esteem by ensuring a carefully planned and structured care curriculum. Social skills development is a key area of focus, and all pupils who board have the opportunity to participate in sport or social clubs within the local area.
Muntham House School has a local, regional and national reputation for innovation and outstanding practice. We provide training to other schools within West Sussex and other education authorities. We hold the International Award with the British Council, and were the first special school to achieve this accreditation due to our extensive partnerships and collaborative work with African schools. The school is a recognised Centre of Excellence for the Quality Inclusion Mark and conducts extensive outreach work supporting local schools. In January 2023, the school was awarded official Trauma-Informed Schools status, and this will also become an area of focus and support that we offer to other schools.
