POOLE AUTISM PRACTICE

• Specialises in Autism and combined Autism with co-occurring ADHD (AuDHD) diagnostic assessment for adults and individual post diagnostic work . Research suggests that over 40 % of people with Autism have co-occurring ADHD and up to 80% will have some features of ADHD. I am experienced in assessing both autism and ADHD and have a special interest in autism with co-occurring ADHD.
• I offer a Neuro affirming diagnostic assessment recognising your strengths as well as differences. Assessments are compliant with NICE guidance for diagnostic assessment of Autism and ADHD in adults. I understand the importance of creating a safe and compassionate space for you to get the most out of your assessment. This involves taking an unhurried and gentle approach to the interview questions to prevent you feeling pressured or overloaded. If you need longer than the standard two appointments, this will be accommodated at no extra cost. 

NEURODIVERSITY EXPERIENCE

• I have worked for many years in a specialist NHS Autism diagnostic service for adults. I have experienced a broad range of presentations found in Autism and Autism with ADHD. These typically include; masking, burnout, gender differences, trauma and mental health conditions.
• Prior to specialising in autism and neurodiversity, I worked in NHS community mental health teams, offering psychological assessment and psychological therapies to adults presenting with a broad range of mental health conditions. I therefore have a broad background in mental health as well as specialist experience in neurodiversity. This allows me to consider differential diagnoses and co-occurring conditions which can be common in Autism and Autism with ADHD.
