Gwent Access to Advocacy, a service that may be of use for tenants, service users and residents in the Gwent Area. Advisers on the helpline can provide information and advice on advocacy, can advise on entitlement to advocacy based on care and support needs, and can signpost and refer to relevant advocacy services and other specialist services.

GATA

Advocacy is a free, independent and confidential service that assists you to know your rights and to have more voice, choice and control when decisions are made that affect you.

GATA’s friendly helpline advisers offer information, advice and support with signposting and referrals to adult advocacy services. As GATA is independent of local authorities, the NHS and advocacy providers, we can ensure that you recieve the type of advocacy that is right for you.

Is the advocacy helpline for me?

Yes if:

· you are 18+, live in Greater Gwent (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen), and need help talking to professionals in public services about your care and support needs

· you are a carer aged 18+, live in Greater Gwent and need help talking to professionals in public services about either your own care and support needs or those of someone you care for

· you are a relative, friend or professional who thinks a person may benefit from advocacy

How can an advocate help?

An advocate is someone who will:

· be there just for you and to take your side

· help you to find and understand information

· help you to consider your options and make your own decisions

· ensure that your views, wishes and feelings are listened to and considered

· speak on your behalf when you need them to

· yn 18+, yn byw yng Ngwent Fwyaf (Blaenau Gwent, Caerffili, Sir Fynwy, Casnewydd, Torfaen) ac angen cymorth i siarad gyda gweithwyr proffesiynol y gwasanaethau cyhoeddus am eich anghenion gofal a chefnogaeth

· yn ofalwr 18+, yn byw yng Ngwent Fwyaf ac angen cymorth i siarad gyda gweithwyr proffesiynol y gwasanaethau cyhoeddus am anghenion gofal a chefnogaeth chi neu rywun rydych chi'n gofalu amdanynt

· yn berthynas, ffrind neu'n weithiwr proffesiynol sydd yn credu byddai rhywun yn buddio o dderbyn eiriolaeth

Sut gall eiriolwr helpu?

Mae eiriolwr yn rhywun fydd:

· yno yn arbennig i chi ac yn eich cefnogi

· yn eich helpu i ddarganfod a deall gwybodaeth

· yn eich helpu i ystyried eich opsiynau a gwneud penderfyniadau eich hun

· yn sicrhau bod gwrandawiad ac ystyriaeth i'ch barn, dymuniadau a theimladau

· yn siarad ar eich rhan pan fydd angen hynny
