I'm an Autistic science tutor and mentor, working online with Autistic children and young people. Most of the people I work with have struggled in mainstream education for various reasons; they may be out of school, or keeping going with it.

I was a school science teacher for about a decade, teaching mostly chemistry and physics, but also some biology, maths and computing. I was employed as a teacher in Scotland, but was educated in England, so I am very familiar with science curricula both sides of the border (up to A Level Physics or equivalent, A/S or Higher Chemistry, N5/GCSE Maths; biology and computing are subjects I know well).

However, what I most like doing is allowing a child's interests to lead our sessions, as much as possible. I think the lack of opportunities to explore intense interests is one of the things making most schools inaccessible for so many Autistic kids.
