I am an independent Educational Psychologist, with extensive experience in assessing children’s strengths and needs, providing written recommendations for how to help with learning, behaviour and development in education. I also offer training and consultancy services for education settings, families, charities and extra-curricular organisations.
An assessment will give you a clear understanding of your child’s learning, behaviour and development, as well as how to help your child to know their strengths and why they may find some things difficult at school. Recommendations are made for how your child can be supported to make progress and thrive in education.
I work with children aged 3-16 years. Assessments include intelligence, processing, memory, literacy and maths. Any other concerns you have can also be explored, such as emotional needs, attention, social skills, sensory processing, motor skills, and behaviour concerns. Recommendations are made for supporting your child’s education, eg teaching strategies, useful resources, and additional targeted teaching.
I can assess for giftedness, diagnose learning difficulties (eg dyslexia and dyscalculia) and screen for neurodivergence, though formal assessment of autism differences and ADHD needs to be carried out by health professionals. I can advise you on whether or not to pursue a formal assessment and make recommendations for support at school.
Where relevant, advice is given for school transitions, supporting mental health and medical needs (eg Tourettes, epilepsy and diabetes) or how to help if your child has been bereaved or experienced bullying. I also assess and make recommendations for exam access arrangements for children and adults.
Where relevant, advice and recommendations are included for an EHCP, eg individual support, environmental adjustments and staff training. Information is specific and quantifiable. You can use my report as part of requesting or appealing an EHC needs assessment but I do not undertake tribunal work.
