EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus, Achieving for Children
Main information
Service categories: Information, advice and advocacy
The National Autistic Society (NAS) EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus programmes aim to support parents and carers of children between 2 and 10 years old who either already have, or are ‘on the road to’ a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder:
- It is a 6 week programme involving up to eight families
- It brings together parents and carers for daytime group training sessions once a week
- School staff are invited (where applicable) to support parents and share strategies
- It includes a 1:1 session with one of our facilitators at the end of the programme
- Courses are hosted at different venues across Kingston and Richmond
The NAS EarlyBird programme works in partnership with parents to help them to:
- understand their child’s autism spectrum disorder
- develop their child’s communication skills
- develop and apply practical strategies to manage their child’s behaviour
