Different Joy Partnership

Main information

Service categories: Counselling and therapies

As a joyfully autistic woman, I help autistic people, their families, and the people who support them, navigate the unique challenges and strengths that come with being neurodivergent.

If you (or your autistic family member) are facing any life changes, whether you are new to autism, adjusting to the news of being neurodivergent, facing challenges in school, college or work, or major changes in your life , we can work though how to work through those in a neurodiversity accepting way. We will take a strengths-based approach and focus on what is important to you and your family.

I usually do sessions over zoom, and we can record the session so that you can go back over what we discussed to help with processing later. But if you don’t want the session to be recorded, or would prefer to do it over the phone (you can dial into the call on your phone), or with camera off, that is equally fine by me. Please just let me know what you are comfortable with. The key thing is that you are comfortable in the session.

In our first session, we will cover the following:

  1. Confirm whether (or not) you are happy to have a recording of the session so that you can look back over it afterwards.
  2. Your current situation and why you are looking for coaching now.
  3. Explain how I work and setting a safe environment for you to say whatever you need with complete confidence
  4. To agree the 3 main things are for us to focus on in our sessions. We will work on these as we go through our sessions
  5. In each session, I will set you one or more ‘missions’ to complete before next time. These are always voluntary, but they will help you to move faster towards your goals
  6. Set a schedule for our sessions so you know when they will be and can put them in your diary.

Quotes from Clients:

Coaching Client - "More insight and confidence. Able to apply learning to practical living. Managing exhaustion is changing. I am achieving more such as tackling long term problems, going out alone, being sociable and enjoying it, feeling less shame, feeling understood, feeling validated."

Family Member - “My wife has significantly fewer melt downs and shut downs!!! The times of overwhelm are generally far less extreme and happen far less often. Fantastic for her as these were so utterly exhausting and demoralising”.

Coaching Client - “[She] is doing fantastic in every way and we are approaching her official diagnosis date with a positive outlook. I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of speaking to you and very touched that you have reached out to me now with your thoughtfulness.
