Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Main information

Service categories: Counselling and therapies

You may be functioning on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or deeply self-critical inside. Many of the people I work with are autistic or have ADHD (diagnosed or self-identified), and/or have lived with developmental or relational trauma. They often describe feeling stuck in survival mode, burnout, shame, or emotional disconnection.

I offer person-centred, trauma-informed therapy for neurodivergent adults in Macclesfield, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety, pacing, and relationship. My approach is gentle and collaborative, particularly for clients who have found previous therapy overwhelming, invalidating, or too fast.

How I work:

I’m a person-centred therapist, which means our work is led by you — your experiences, your nervous system, and your sense of what feels manageable. I work in a neurodivergence-affirming way, recognising the impact of masking, sensory overwhelm, burnout, and lifelong feelings of being “different” or “too much”.

I’m also trauma-informed, and mindful of how trauma can show up in subtle ways such as dissociation, emotional numbing, people-pleasing, or a harsh inner critic. Therapy with me is paced carefully, with attention to nervous system regulation and repair within the therapeutic relationship if something doesn’t feel right.

Depending on your needs, our work may gently explore:

  • Burnout and chronic overwhelm
  • Shame and self-criticism
  • Dissociation or feeling disconnected
  • The impact of childhood or relational trauma
  • Attachment patterns and relationship difficulties
  • Identity, masking, and self-acceptance

You don’t need to have the right words, a diagnosis, or a clear goal to begin. We can start exactly where you are.

Who I work with:

I work with adults (18+) and have particular experience supporting:

  • Autistic adults
  • ADHD adults
  • Late-identified neurodivergent people
  • Clients with complex or developmental trauma
  • People who feel therapy “hasn’t worked before”

I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities, and backgrounds, and I’m committed to working in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to difference.

What you can expect:

  • A warm and non-judgemental space
  • Therapy that moves at your pace
  • Sensitivity to overwhelm and shutdown
  • Openness to feedback and repair
  • No pressure to perform, explain, or “do therapy right”

If you’re curious about whether we might be a good fit, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
