Autism Support Service
Main information
Service categories: Information, advice and advocacy, Support groups, social programs and branches
Service URL: https://enfold.org.uk/autism-diagnosis-support/
Our free Autism support service is for both adults seeking a diagnosis for themselves, and the parents of children going through the autism diagnostic process. We provide this service for residents of Northamptonshire, UK. The service can be accessed from the point of being on the diagnostic pathway because we recognise that going through the diagnostic process is long and challenging and can result in questions as well as answers.
EnFold act as system navigators to ensure better support, better communication, and most importantly connect individuals and families to the right support for them.
Parents and carers of children and young people can get lost in the diagnostic system leaving them confused and isolated after the process has ended.
We want to ensure that all children, via support to their parents, can access the best services, information and support for them.
We also want to ensure all individuals receiving a diagnosis in adulthood find the right information and support.
EnFold believes that everyone deserves an equal chance to flourish.
How our support could help
Emotional Adjustment and Acceptance: An autism diagnosis can bring a mix of emotions, including relief, confusion, or anxiety. Our expert and empathetic support helps individuals and families process these emotions, understand what the diagnosis means, and provide guidance on how to navigate new experiences or challenges.
Access to Resources and Interventions:
A formal diagnosis can open the door to specialised resources and grants to help including therapy. However, there is a great deal that is not reliant on diagnosis and based on presenting needs. We will help you identify what is available to you and help you to apply for or access the appropriate grants or services. This is tailored to your needs and may include disability benefits, Education health care plans etc.
Improved Understanding and Communication:
We will introduce you to resources and strategies that will help improve understanding how autism affects communication, social interactions, sensory processing, and behaviour. We will explore how to create a more supportive environment, by reducing stress and misunderstandings and increasing cooperation.
We are not affiliated to any organisation and do not seek to sell any additional products or services. We offer free services as a result of grants and other funding revenues.
