I provide specialist, autism-specific sleep support for children and their families using an assessment-led approach grounded in behavioural science.
I am a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) with over 15 years’ experience supporting autistic children, including those with complex needs such as communication differences, sensory sensitivities, and high levels of distress at bedtime.
My support is tailored specifically for children with autism. Sleep is not just about routines. I focus on three key areas: sleep biology (sleep pressure and circadian rhythm), what a child needs to fall asleep and stay asleep (sleep dependencies), and the behaviours and patterns that have developed around sleep.
I adapt my approach by:
- Understanding each child’s sensory profile and sleep environment
- Supporting communication needs and reducing uncertainty around bedtime
- Building tolerance to change gradually and safely
- Considering separation differences and attachment needs
- Avoiding overwhelming or distress-based strategies
I support families with:
- Bedtime resistance and distress
- Night waking and split nights
- Early rising
- Sleep dependencies
- Sleep difficulties linked to behaviour or regulation differences
My approach is compassionate, individualised, and does not use compliance-based or distress-based methods. I focus on understanding the underlying causes of sleep difficulties and building skills over time, often starting during the day.
I offer:
- In-depth sleep assessments
- Personalised sleep plans
- Parent support and guidance
When sleep is properly understood, meaningful and sustainable change becomes possible.
