I am Tris, an NCPS senior accredited psychotherapist, a Pink Therapy advanced accredited GSRD Therapist, and a Pink Therapy endorsed GSRD aware trainer. I have lived experience as a Queer, AuDHD non-binary person whose pronouns are they/them.
I am committed to anti-oppressive practice. This means a continual journey of learning, reflection, and an awareness that I have and do get it wrong. For me, the personal is political, and politics has a place in the therapy room; we live within systems of oppression and privilege, and those systems both underpin and overarch our lives. It is my responsibility as a therapist to hold space for my clients to explore this space, should they wish to. I meet regularly with a group of counsellors and psychotherapists dedicated to intersectional and anti-oppressive therapeutic practice to (un) learn, reframe, heal and rebuild ways of working that are fundamentally anti-racist, anti-capitalist and anti-oppressive.
I am particularly knowledgeable in the following areas:
- Kink/BDSM
- Sex Work
- Non-Monomgamy
- Chronic Illness/Disability
- Gender Identity
- Sexuality
- Neurodivergence
I have a sliding scale for fees, which works on an honesty self-select basis, and trust that clients will select the most appropriate fee for their current circumstances. I will occasionally prompt my clients to reflect on their current fee to ensure that they are still on the most appropriate one for them.
My current learning path is British sign language, I have completed the Signature level 2 and hope to progress to learn more with a view in the years to come to offer sessions in BSL.
As well as my therapy practice, I also deliver LGBTQ awareness sessions and am a Diversity and Inclusion consultant and public speaker.
Outside of work, I am currently the head of Access and Inclusion for the national charity Bi Pride UK, having previously been the Vice-chair for almost 4 years before needing to take a break from activism work. I am a long-standing volunteer for the Human Library, founded Colchester Pride and held the position of Chair for 2 years.
When not working or volunteering, I can be found playing board and video games, parlour larping, at the theatre, or snuggled up on the sofa with my loved ones or my cat Tia(who often makes appearances whilst working online)
