Kerry Murphy

Kerry Murphy is an early years specialist, author and lecturer whose work focuses on neurodiversity-affirming practice, anti-ableism and inclusive pedagogy. She is the founder and Project Lead of Diverse Pathways for Early Childhood, an initiative that reimagines child development guidance for the under-fives by centring strengths, identities and diverse ways of being.
Kerry’s most recent book, Neurodiversity-affirming practice in early childhood: an empowering guide to diverse development and play (Routledge, 2025), brings together her research and practice to provide educators with practical tools for affirming and inclusive approaches. She is completing an educational doctorate, exploring self-directed play in neurodivergent children, and regularly delivers training, keynotes and resources for educators, local authorities and families.
Kerry is passionate about reframing early childhood education away from compliance and normalisation towards practice that honours autonomy, relationships and diverse developmental pathways.
