Staffing ratio and provided care

We are able to provide support to meet the individual needs of the people who live within the service. Support is on a 1:1 basis or unsupported time for independence where appropriate.
There is currently a sleep-in member of staff.
Our staff undertake a comprehensive autism induction including positive behaviour support and communication and provide a low arousal environment. Staff are available to provide effective support around different aspects of life skills development to ensure they are happy, safe and secure in their own home.
We are able to provide support to maintain healthy lifestyles, medication and personal care, as well as developing health action plans and participating in activities in our centres as well as in the community

Service facilities

Bushlands is a small four bedroom semi-detached house with a large recently refurbished modern kitchen diner. There is communal lounge and front and rear garden.
Although the vacant bedroom has no en-suite there is a communal bathroom and shower room with an additional downstairs toilet. 

The staircase is steep therefore good mobility is essential for any prospective person.

Community facilities

There is a bus stop at the end of the road with excellent transport links to the major train station in Northampton.
There is a local shop with Post Office within walking distance as well as a fish and chip takeaway, three pubs and a supermarket for grocery shopping. There are also parks within walking distance.

NAS Community Services put on seasonal events which the people we support enjoy attending.

I am really grateful he is living at Bushlands as he has never had such good caring people to help support him, it helps to know I haven’t got to worry about him as much

Placement suitability

Admission criteria:

  • minimum of 25 hours of support funded
  • be over 18 years of age
  • have a diagnosis of ASD

Currently residing in the service are two gentlemen therefore this vacancy would ideally suit a gentleman in his 40's with good mobility due to a steep staircase.

The two gentlemen who reside at Bushlands are independent and are smokers (outside only) and they interact; however they enjoy their own space. This is a quiet house.
