TCS London Marathon 2026 FAQ page
I have applied but haven’t heard back from you. What should I do?
Thank you so much for applying to join Team Autism. We are lucky enough to receive hundreds of applications and want to make sure we read every application individually. We will be sorting through all of the incredible applications over these next few months. We aim to be in touch with all of our applicants by end of September 2025.
Can we apply as a group?
No, we do not accept group applications. However, please mention on your application if you would like to be considered together and list out the names (as written on applications) of the other applicants and we can look at them together. We have had friends and couples run together in the past.
My friend/family member is unable to run but has a place; can I run using their entry?
Places in the TCS London Marathon are not transferable under any circumstances - see Conditions of Entry
Anyone attempting to run using another person’s entry will be disqualified and banned for life from the London Marathon and all other events organised by London Marathon Events Ltd.
Number swapping is strictly prohibited for several reasons, the most important of which is the danger and confusion it can cause in the event of an incident on the route. The information you provided in the registration process included your next of kin and emergency contact information. First aid crews on the course provide details of those that have had to drop out of the race, those receiving medical attention, including their location, and if they have been taken to a hospital. In the event of a serious incident, we contact the named next of kin and emergency contact. If your place is being used by someone else, then the emergency services and medical professionals waste valuable time and your action might cause great distress and concern to your closest friends/family.
I am ill, injured or unable to run – what do I do?
If you gained your place via the public ballot and have paid your entry fee, you may defer your place for one year (not more) by following the instructions in the magazine you were sent. If you correctly follow the process to defer your ballot place, this means you do not have to go through the public ballot system for 2026. Please note that in order to guarantee your place for 2026, you must meet the deadlines and pay the entry fee for 2025. Only places gained through the public ballot may be deferred and this is only for one year. Places won in a competition may not be deferred under any circumstances. Places from the charity will be deferred or not at the discretion of the charity so please pass any details about this on to us to answer. Some will be allowed and some will not, and this will be done on a case-by-case basis and there is sometimes a deferral fee of £50 involved.
I have moved. How do I let you know my change of address?
Your address details can be changed easily with our team, but London Marathon will need to know that you have changed your address as well as us. Please email changeofaddress@londonmarathonevents.co.uk with your name, date of birth, telephone number, old address and your new address. Your address details will then be changed in their system and a confirmation will be emailed to you when this has been done. Please do not call the helpdesk with changes of address as these can only be processed by email.
Do I need to stay in London?
It depends where you are coming from. You will need to pick your race number up at the Marathon Expo from the Wednesday - Saturday before the race – so if you live nearby, you may find it easier and cheaper to just pop to the Expo and back home. However, if you’re coming from further away, it’s probably a good idea to book in some accommodation.
Do we consider international runners to run for us?
Yes, we do! For many international runners, running for charities is one of the only ways they can take on the London Marathon and we welcome their applications. They will be viewed against the same criteria we look at other runners.
