Black Letter Law® is a ‘Trauma-informed’ and ‘Autism-friendly’ legal services provider delivering tailored legal advice and support to neurodivergent Clients across a number of sectors including family law, contract law, landlord and tenant, professional negligence, product liability, medical negligence, property law, judicial reviews, money claims, employment disputes, civil disputes, commercial disputes, property disputes, personal injury claims and private Client undertakings. 

Black Letter Law® also represents and assists neurodivergent Clients in Investigatory Hearings, Employment Tribunals, Employment Appeals Tribunal, First-Tier Tribunals, family courts, criminal courts, magistrates courts and civil courts as Autism Advocates, Lawyers, McKenzie Friends and Litigation Friends.

As an accredited ‘Autism-friendly’ legal services provider we support many neurodivergent Clients from all walks of life and our Truro office is designed to create a calming, relaxed and quiet space for all neurodivergent and neurotypical Clients seeking our professional services.

We also aim to provide an ‘Autism-friendly’ Mediation Room with specialist neurodivergent friendly lighting and furniture in 2026.

About the Senior Lawyer

The Senior Lawyer is an honours law graduate and published academic legal author (English & European Law, United States Law) with an access to higher education diploma in psychology, sociology, and human biology. 

The Senior Lawyer’s oldest daughter is disabled and diagnosed with a spectrum disorder alongside a very rare neurological condition recognised as ‘Dystonia’.

The Senior Lawyer is an accredited MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) Mental Health First Aider, has undertaken FAA (First Aid Awards) Level 3 Safeguarding training for the protection of children, young people, or vulnerable adults (RQF) (Qualification Code 601/8471/1) and is CPD certified in Autism & Sensory Experience, Autism: Supporting Families, Women and Girls on the Autism Spectrum, Autism Stress and Anxiety, Autism and Communication and Understanding Autism in association with the National Autistic Society.

The Senior Lawyer also has extensive experience in caring for private Clients with medically diagnosed brain injuries through the provision of 360-degree care comprising (and not limited to) financial decisions, health and welfare decisions, daily living decisions, medical decisions, palliative decisions, and legal decisions, as well as receiving over twenty years of person-centred therapy.

The Senior Lawyer is the first English Lawyer to execute and submit a court-accepted Client-Decision Maker Mental Capacity Assessment Report under section 2 and 3 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Neurodivergent Client testimonials are visible on our website and enquirers are welcome to directly verify any testimonial with those Clients for peace of mind (please ask for details and we will be happy to assist).

This means that in the event that your matter becomes a civil claim above the Small Claims Track, or a Family Court hearing under English common law, Black Letter Law® would not be able to advocate or conduct any element of the litigation process on your behalf (subject to certain exceptions).

We can nonetheless provide full Client support as McKenzie Friends, act for you as Mediators, or advocate on your behalf as Litigation Friends (subject to Client capacity) to keep legal costs at a minimum. .
