Karen Green is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience, 17 of these within the NHS.
Over this time, Karen has worked within mental health services and services for those with neurodiversity, notably autism spectrum. She has developed extensive expertise in assessment, diagnosis and therapy for those who are, or believe they may be, neurodivergent.
Karen works with individuals, couples and families using well researched approaches for all aspects of neurodivergence, trauma and mental wellbeing or illness. This includes exploring and understanding each individual and the potentially overwhelming impact of daily life events and experiences for them, such as:
- loss and bereavement;
- physical health and pain;
- uncertainty and change, including specific transitions, for example, starting university or retirement;
- social interactions;
- and the fatigue due to both anxiety the energy needed in coping with such experiences.
Therapies are adapted as necessary and include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR); Family/Systemic and Couple Therapy. Karen’s therapy work also includes practical strategies and problem-solving with a key focus on how we all need to develop ways of regulating our emotions and managing our environments to enhance our feelings of safety, confidence, self-esteem and positive identity.
