If you are autistic, or you are a family member of someone on the autism spectrum, here are some ways in which you can get information and advice from us.

By phone

Monday to Thursday 10am-4pm and Friday 9am-3pm

Our Helpline receives a huge number of calls so there are times when our phone lines get very busy and you may not be able to get through immediately. When an adviser is available to take calls we aim to answer within 60 seconds. You will be held in a queuing system when advisers are on calls and put through when the next adviser becomes available. Our phone system will:

  • Announce your place in the queue.
  • You will be able to queue indefinitely. We try to answer as many enquiries as possible; in order to do this, we try to keep our calls between 10 to 15 minutes long.

Please be aware that the Autism Helpline is a small team with very high demand. If you are unable to have your call placed in the queue, this means that all of our advisers are busy taking calls. Alternatively you can use our online enquiry form.

To receive an information pack

  • Call us on 0808 800 4104 and select from an adult or child information pack to leave a voicemail to request an information pack.
    - For an adult information pack, please press Option 1 followed by Option 1.
    - For a child information pack, please press Option 1 followed by Option 2.

Note: 
When calling for information packs, please state whether you are a parent, autistic adult, a student, researcher or professional. After the tone, you will be asked to clearly leave your name and address; please do include your postcode. We aim to respond to all voicemail requests for information within 5 working days. Our post is sent second class so this information may take up to 10 working days to get to you. Unfortunately we are unable to call people back, so please do not leave your telephone number.

  • Due to resources, we are only able to send a general information pack. For more specific information, please call us on 0808 800 4104 or go to www.autism.org.uk/enquiry.

Online

Please note: the helpline is currently experiencing extremely high demand at the moment, and it may therefore take us a minimum of 28 working days to reply to emails and enquiries.
