At Gibside School, we support children with a range of disabilities including: Severe Learning Disability, Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Speech & Language and Communication disorders and, A wide range of complex needs associated with emotional vulnerability and trauma. Gibside is an inclusive, happy and nurturing environment. We place education, equality and understanding at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to provide the highest quality learning opportunities through available resources including our hydrotherapy pool, food technology, sensory, i-muse and soft play rooms. These spaces will provide extended provision for our children, families and our local community. At Gibside School, everyone is respected and valued for their contribution – pupils, staff, parents/carers and multidisciplinary teams alike. As most of our pupils experience communication difficulties, we have an ethos where all forms of communication are valued equally e.g. objects of reference, signing, use of symbols and photographs etc. Gibside has been judged as "Outstanding" in our most recent Ofsted inspection.
