Autism Assessment Scotland specialises in delivering private, online and face to face (on request) autism assessments and other neurodevelopmental conditions for individuals aged 16 and over. Our clinicians are fully accredited professionals registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), each with substantial expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. All assessments are conducted in line with NICE and SIGN guidelines, ensuring the highest standard of quality and integrity. We take pride in our holistic, person-centred approach, thoroughly considering each individual's lived experience.

We provide a range of assessment options, allowing you to select the pathway that best aligns with your needs:

  • Initial Assessment Consultation

Whatever your reason for seeking support, an Initial Assessment Consultation serves as an ideal starting point. This service consists of a comprehensive review of your history, completion of screening questionnaires, and a 60–90 minute session with a member of our clinical team. Our highly qualified clinicians will work with you to determine whether autism is a possibility.

  • Initial Assessment Consultation with Report

Our Initial Consultation and Report is designed to help you make sense of your experiences, strengths, and challenges, offering in-depth and practical recommendations to support your wellbeing. This option may be taken as a stand-alone service or as a step towards a formal diagnosis.

This assessment includes:

-Interpretation of validated screening instruments

-Exploration of developmental history with input from key informants (typically a parent, spouse, friend, or sibling)

-A 90-minute online consultation, followed by expert feedback regarding the suitability of a formal assessment if required

-A concise summary report with tailored recommendations

  • Formal Diagnostic Assessment

For those needing a formal diagnosis, our expert clinicians are here to offer a comprehensive and robust diagnostic process. The formal assessment comprises:

-Interpretation of screening tools

-Collection of developmental history and informant perspectives

-An initial 60–90 minute online discussion

-A follow-up appointment lasting 90 minutes to 2 hours, including feedback

-A detailed written report and recommendations, delivered via email within three weeks of assessment

All formal diagnostic assessments are jointly conducted by two experienced specialist clinicians, ensuring accuracy and the highest standard of care.
