Live online course for autistic adults

We are running a live online public speaking and consultancy skills course for autistic adults in November 2024. This is a four-part course for autistic adults in the UK who would like to improve their skills in autism related public speaking, training, co-facilitation and consultancy.
Places are limited, so there is an application process for people who are interested in applying for a place.

Speaker & consultancy skills
A four-part live online course on public speaking, training, co-facilitation and consultancy skills for autistic adults.
This course runs across 2-weeks in November 2024, and is aimed at autistic adults in the UK who would like to improve their skills in public speaking, training, co-facilitation or consultancy related to autism.
The content will include:
- practical strategies and tips
- covering topics such as developing confidence, discovering individual presentation style, presentation tips and practice, managing groups, getting work and getting paid
- autistic trainer/consultants sharing their experience
- insight, practical tips and strategies for delivering training and consultancy (both virtually and in-person) from our experienced training consultants.
- information about speaking, co-facilitating and consultancy opportunities with the National Autistic Society.
- the opportunity to deliver a short five-minute presentation on a topic of your choice, within a safe environment with other autistic delegates.
This course will be free to attend.
The course will run on the 4, 5, 11 & 12 November 2024: 10 am to 12 pm on each day.
Course requirements
People who are interested in attending will need to submit an application. Spaces are limited and delegates will be selected based on the criteria below:
- willingness to learn and improve public speaking and consultancy skills
- wanting to work as a public speaker, trainer, co-facilitator or consultant in relation to autism
- existing experience of public speaking and/or consultancy work (such as presentations as part of a further or higher education course, sharing lived experience to a support group or conference/event, or taking part in focus groups)
- has a good general understanding of autism
- general familiarity with using presentation software and online platforms such as Teams or Zoom
- identifies as autistic
- available to attend all four course sessions on Microsoft Teams (10am to 12pm; on 4, 5, 11 & 12 November 2024)
- lives in the UK.
We want to ensure autistic people from diverse backgrounds are represented, therefore we encourage applications from people from under-represented groups, including people from ethnic minority groups, the LGBTQ+ community and low-income persons.

- The deadline for applications is Sunday 29 September 2024 at 11pm.
- Applicants will be informed via email whether they have a place on the course. This will be no later than 5pm on Tuesday 15 October 2024.
