Plenary - Emily Higgins-Walsh
This session aims to provide a clinical insight to some of the practical interventions used by speech and language therapists (SLTs) when supporting autistic children with complex communication needs. The session will discuss various forms of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) with a link to the clinical evidence-base in order to share ideas and flexible adaptations needed for true person-centred care.
With space for discussion about acceptance of individual needs and circumstances, this session will explore positive ways to support schools to evolve and adapt wider practices in line with the latest evidence-base and feedback from autistic people.
