TCS London Marathon 2024 + Virtual TCS London Marathon 2024 FAQ page
What do you mean by Own Place/ Ballot place?
If you hear or see us mention ‘Own Place’ or ‘Ballot Place’ runners, we are referring to runners that have either been awarded a place in the event through the official TCS London Marathon ballot or have gained a place through their running club directly.
‘Own Place’ runners do not have a minimum fundraising target and do not need to pay a registration fee to join our team - this is because they have already paid for their ballot place directly. We just kindly ask all ‘Own Place’ runners to raise as much as they can to help support autistic people and their families.
If you have your ‘Own Place’ in this year's TCS London Marathon, please follow the link here to register and join Team Autism.
What do you mean by Charity Place/GB place?
‘Charity’ or ‘GB’ place holders are runners that have applied to run for Team Autism on one of our allocated charity places in the event. We only have a set number of charity places in this event, so we run an application process to select our runners.
Your ‘Charity Place’ is only confirmed if you have heard directly from a member of the Events Team to let you know that your application has been successful. You will then be asked to pay a registration fee of £100. We kindly ask all ‘Charity Place’ runners to raise a minimum of £2,200 to support autistic people and their families.
If you would like to apply to join Team Autism on a charity place, please follow the link here.
When will the results of the official TCS London Marathon ballot be announced?
The ballot results will be announced in 2023, the exact date is to be confirmed. You should receive your result via e-mail directly from London Marathon Events.
I already have a charity place with you but have also been successful in the ballot. What should I do?
Firstly, congratulations on your ballot place! Secondly, do not worry... you can still run for Team Autism using your ballot place. One of the events team will be in touch to provide options for next steps. You can choose to donate your £100 registration fee straight towards your fundraising target, or can request a refund in writing.
I have applied but haven’t heard back from you. What should I do?
Thank you so much for applying to join Team Autism. We are lucky enough to receive hundreds of applications and want to make sure we read every application individually. We are still sorting through all of the incredible applications and aim to be in touch with everyone by the end of February (TBC).
I entered the ballot and have not heard my result…
Unfortunately, the ballot announcement comes directly from TCS London Marathon, so we are not able to help you with this. We would advise double checking your email junk folder and waiting until the day after the announcement before contacting the TCS London Marathon team directly. There are thousands of runners and the results are sometimes released throughout the day.
