Help shape our work!

We are working with Breathe, an independent research agency, on a project to understand the challenges faced by autistic adults when it comes to finding and staying in a job.

This could include any support or resources that you have used to help with this. This will help us develop how we help people in to work and to maintain that employment in the future.

As part of this study, independent researchers from Breathe will be conducting interviews all across the UK from 1 July-12 July. We’re looking to speak to a cross section of autistic people, so that we can understand the range of needs of a wide group of people on the autistic spectrum. As this project is about employment, we would really like to speak to people who are in jobs now OR have had jobs in the past two years. The interview will take 60 minutes and the researcher will conduct the interview (which is just an informal chat) in a way to suit you. This can be online by a video chat, like Skype or Facetime, by phone or we would come to you in person. Whichever way works best for you.

You're an autistic adult aged 18 or over and either in a job or have had a job in the last 2 years. You need to be available to be interviewed for 60 minutes in the weeks of 1 July-12 July.

The interview

There are two parts to the interview. In the first part they will send you an agenda of what they will be talking about so you can have a chance to think about those topics before the chat. The second part will be when they call and chat this through during the interview.

To say thank you for giving up your time to help with this, Breathe will be giving a total of £50 to compensate the interviewee and carer for their time.

How to apply

If you’d like to participate please send Breathe your name, address and postcode and a contact telephone number to give a brief description of the connection you have to autism - e.g. autism diagnosis, what job you have OR had, size of the company you work or worked for.

The interviewers don’t want to be intrusive; they just want to make sure that they cover the full range of autistic experience across the interviews we are conducting.

All contact details will be kept password protected during the project, then deleted upon project completion.

Recruiters from the Breathe team will be in touch between 10-28 June. If you don’t hear from us it will be because we have already recruited enough people in your area.
