Teenscene is a supported youth group service for teenagers with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The service is currently only available in North Ayrshire and East Dunbartonshire but can be delivered in any region in Scotland with appropriate funding. The group is for young people aged between 12 and 18 years in North Ayrshire or 14 and 18 years in East Dunbartonshire. It aims to encourage social interaction with peers, promote confidence and introduce the young people to activities appropriate to their age and suited to their interests. Families get to know the staff during home visits, done before the young person joins the group. The club usually runs on a weekday evening and school holidays. The Teenscene service is free of charge. Parents are requested however, to provide funds to cover meals and any extra costs of a particular activity.
