Dynamic Autism Group

Main information

Type of service: Social groups

Our group is a small, parents led community group and has existed since 2011. Since then we succeed in creating projects for particularly teenagers and young adults. In 2015 we are running our fourth funded music project (it is funded by Cripplegate Foundation). This project is motivating because of the team once again, it is inclusive, learning together through music. The Dynamic Autism Group was created by a small number of parents in 2011. We have determination and desire to help teenagers and young adults to develop creative, active, energetic skills that can be used for their own pleasure and development. From magazine designing, active sports, playing the guitar, singing to computer skills, photography and animation, the results of their efforts can be seen and used as examples of their creative and developmental skills. Each class is taken by a tutor competent in their subject and working in a professional environment. In 2011 and 2012 two animation courses have been successfully completed and a web site and youtube channel is now dedicated to showing the results of work the young people have produced http://dynamicanimation.weebly.com. The guitar and singing group (with guitars donated by Tanglewood Guitars) performed as a group at the Timbuktu Adventure Playground in 2012. Four summer workshops have been achieved in photography, sport, music and dance at the Timbuktu Center in Islington, London in September 2013. In 2014 we ran 10 weeks music and 10 weeks photography and poetry courses which were funded (see the Gallery page and past project pages on weebly site and also group's web site). The Dynamic Autism Group is determined to provide stimulating, high quality activities for the young people on the autism spectrum condition (ASC). Because we feel that there is a need in this area and we would like to play an important role as a community group in order to create a new learning curves and achievable goals with lots of fun.
