Introducing National Autistic Society: Learn
Published on 10 March 2026
Professional learning and practice support that helps organisations get autism and neurodiversity inclusion right
Across the UK, organisations are being asked to do more to create inclusive workplaces, services and environments - not just in principle, but in practice. For many teams, this comes alongside competing priorities, capacity constraints and increasing expectations.
For many teams, the intent is there. The challenge is turning good intentions into action that is consistent, workable, and genuinely improves experiences and outcomes for autistic and other neurodivergent people.
That’s where National Autistic Society: Learn can help.
We support organisations and professionals to build confidence and skills, and to develop inclusive practice that makes a measurable difference — whether you work in education, health and social care, public services, workplaces, or public-facing environments.
Who we are
National Autistic Society: Learn is the professional learning and practice-improvement partner of the National Autistic Society.
We bring together:
- the authority and trust of the National Autistic Society
- learning, consultancy and accreditation designed for real-world settings
- an approach grounded in lived experience, evidence and co-production
In other words: we help you move from good intentions and growing awareness to confident, credible inclusion.
Who we’re for
We typically work with two main groups:
1) Organisational decision-makers and commissioners
Senior leaders, service managers, HR and EDI leads, learning and development teams and others responsible for organisational strategy and improvement.
2) Individual professionals and practitioners
People who want to build their skills to better support autistic and other neurodivergent people in day-to-day practice.
Why this matters
Many organisations come to us for one or more of these reasons:
- They want staff to feel more confident and capable
- They want to improve quality of experience for autistic people in their services, workplaces or environments
- They want inclusion work to support wider organisational goals such as recruitment, retention, reputation, customer experience, or service outcomes
- They want to partner with a provider whose credibility helps them make the case internally — and helps them avoid “getting it wrong”
But we also know what gets in the way:
- stretched budgets and limited capacity
- uncertainty about where to start
- difficulty building internal buy-in
- decision paralysis — because inclusion can feel complex or high-stakes
That’s why our approach is designed to be practical, flexible and clear.
What makes National Autistic Society: Learn different
There are many providers offering training, toolkits and e-learning. What makes National Autistic Society: Learn distinctive is not just what we offer, but how it is built and how it supports change over time.
We combine three things very few providers can bring together:
1) Credibility you can stand behind
As part of the National Autistic Society, our work is grounded in decades of insight, support and expertise — and trusted by organisations who need confidence in the quality of what they commission.
2) Co-production and lived experience at the core
Our learning and support are developed and delivered with autistic people, alongside professional and evidence-based expertise. This helps ensure what we do is relevant, respectful and rooted in real experiences.
3) A clear pathway from learning to sustained improvement
Our offer supports progression - helping organisations and individuals understand where to start and how to move forward over time, from learning into improved practice and, where appropriate, recognised standards and accreditation.
Every organisation is at a different point. We help you identify a starting point that fits your needs, and support you to take the appropriate next steps. These can include:
Build knowledge and confidence
Accessible learning that supports staff to better understand autism and neurodiversity, and apply that understanding in real situations.
Embed inclusive practice
Consultancy and frameworks to help translate learning into consistent practice, improved environments, stronger systems and better outcomes.
Recognise progress and strengthen standards
Accreditation and recognition pathways that help organisations demonstrate commitment, quality and leadership in inclusive practice.
This progression matters because inclusion is rarely solved through information alone. Sustainable change needs confidence, reinforcement and practical support.
A practical place to start
If you’re exploring how to strengthen autism and neurodiversity inclusion, a good first step is simply clarifying what you need most right now:
- Do you need your workforce to feel more confident and consistent?
- Do you need practice change in a specific area (communication, environment, service design, leadership)?
- Do you need a framework or standard that helps you evidence improvement?
- Do you need support to build the internal case and bring others with you?
Whatever your starting point, we’ll help you find a practical route forward that works within your time, budget and capacity.
