Supporting autistic people through social care assessments

This course develops understanding of how to carry out care and support needs assessments that are sensitive to the needs of autistic adults.

About the course

The course has been developed by registered social workers and autism specialists in response to recommendations in the autism strategy published by the Department of Health.

The course aims to develop participants’ understanding of how to carry out care and support needs assessments that are sensitive to the needs of autistic people. It also discusses the SPELL Framework and how it can support assessors with autism-friendly assessments.

The course is designed for professionals who work with autistic children or adults and already have a good understanding of autism.

If you do not have a good understanding of autism this course is offered as a package with access to our ‘Understanding autism’ e-learning module.
