Sybil Elgar Summer 2026 round-up

As another successful academic year comes to a close, there is much to celebrate across Sybil Elgar School. From creative projects and performances to community visits, life skills activities and new technology, students have taken part in a wide range of experiences that support learning both inside and beyond the classroom.

This year's Summer Social provided an opportunity to bring many of these achievements together. Families, students, staff and community partners came together to celebrate the end of the year, with the Safari theme creating a vibrant backdrop for the day! We were delighted to welcome The Worshipful the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Faduma Mohamed to hand over certificates, trophees and to wish well our graduating students.

Looking back on the year, it is clear that these achievements are made possible through the combined efforts of students, families, staff and supporters. This spirit of commitment and collaboration was also reflected in the retirement of Thea Smit, who leaves Sybil Elgar School after many years of dedicated service. Throughout her time at the school, Thea has supported pupils, families and colleagues, contributing to the strong sense of community that continues to define Sybil Elgar.

Reflecting on her time at the school, Thea said:

"It was a privilege and great pleasure to work with the most amazing young people at Sybil Elgar School and their families. I will miss the great teamwork from all the staff and wish them a well-deserved summer holiday with their families. Sybil Elgar School will forever be very close to my heart."

The year has also highlighted the value of partnership. We were delighted to welcome Felicity and Christine from the Worshipful Company of Glovers, whose generous support has enabled students to benefit from immersive learning through VR technology. Students proudly demonstrated activities including Open Brush, Leap Motion and mixed reality games, before thanking our visitors for helping to shape this direction for new learning opportunities.

We were equally grateful to ICTS and the community charity initiative led by Rabinder Singh Dhami and his team. After working with staff to identify projects and resources that would benefit students, ICTS representatives visited the school to deliver donated items in person. Their commitment to exploring future opportunities for support has strengthened links with the local community and opened the door to further collaborative projects.

We wish you all a calm and enjoyable Summer break. We look forward to to continue supporting our young people towards building confidence, communication and participating in the world around them when they return on Monday 7th September 2026.
