Sybil Elgar School students commemorated Remembrance Day through a series of meaningful activities that combined creativity, community engagement and interactive learning. From crafting wreaths to visiting local memorials and exploring history at the Royal Air Force Museum, these experiences helped students understand the importance of remembrance in an accessible and engaging way.

Workshop at the Royal Air Force Museum

Students took part in an interactive workshop at the Royal Air Force Museum, where they explored Remembrance Day through a specially designed social story. This helped them understand the history and significance of the day in a clear and accessible way. During the session, students had the opportunity to handle and explore real objects from the Second World War, including uniforms, equipment and everyday items. This hands-on experience brought history to life and supported learning through touch, observation and guided exploration.

Laying wreaths at Ealing War Memorial

Students visited the Ealing War Memorial, where they carefully laid the wreaths they had created. This calm and respectful moment allowed students to observe the memorial, reflect quietly and take part in an important community tradition.
Staff supported students using visuals, photos and simple explanations to help them engage meaningfully with the visit.
