1968 Helen Allison School established
Following the success of the Sybil Elgar School and the increasing demand for specialist education, the National Autistic Society opened a second school, the Helen Allison School. Named after one of the charity’s founding members, Helen Allison, the school was created to provide tailored education and support at a time when such provisions were limited.
The archive compiled by the National Autistic Society represents the personal opinions and perspectives, including the oral accounts of interviewees, and original writers at the time the items were written.
