The Frameless Exhibition: an innovative art journey
Published on 11 March 2024
Embarking on a transformative adventure last Tuesday, a group of our art students from our 16-22 department had the extraordinary opportunity to explore the world of contemporary art in the most mesmerising way at the Frameless Exhibition in Marble Arch. This immersive experience provided our students with a chance to engage with art in a whole different way.
A great way to experience art!
What is the Frameless Exhibition and where is it?
Held in a spacious and accommodating venue near Marble Arch London, the Frameless Exhibition showcased a diverse collection of contemporary artworks that transcends traditional boundaries and made a visit for autistic students so much more engaging than a traditional gallery. The artists featured in the exhibition aimed to create an immersive and inclusive space, inviting visitors to experience art in a multi-sensory manner. For the students, this presented an ideal setting to discover art through a multi-sensory experience.
Art without bounds: our students' interactive journey through The Frameless Exhibition
As the students entered the exhibition space, a sense of wonder and anticipation filled the air. The Frameless Exhibition, true to its name, encouraged a departure from traditional frames and encouraged a more interactive and participatory approach to art appreciation. The students were encouraged to touch, feel, and even contribute to some of the exhibits, giving them a real sense of ownership and connection with the artworks.
Multi-sensory learning at its best
For many students, the conventional art gallery experience can be overwhelming. However, the Frameless Exhibition goes above and beyond to cater to diverse sensory needs. Artworks incorporated elements like textured surfaces, ambient sounds, and gentle lighting, creating a multi-sensory environment that engaged and stimulated the students in a positive way.
Reflections and impact
The trip to the Frameless Exhibition was more than just an outing, it was a transformative journey that highlighted the potential of inclusive art experiences. By breaking down traditional barriers and fostering a mood for learning, the exhibition not only opens new avenues for artistic expression but also shows the importance of creating accessible and welcoming spaces for all. In the tapestry of the Frameless Exhibition, every student found a thread of connection, weaving together a story of empowerment, inclusion, and the limitless possibilities that art can offer.
