Understanding autism using the DISCO framework

An accredited four-day training course in the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) framework focused on assessment and diagnosis.

About the training

The DISCO framework builds upon the concept of autism being a spectrum and was originally developed by Lorna Wing and Judith Gould as both a clinical and a research instrument. It helps professionals to understand the needs of individuals, both children and adults and to develop formulations and diagnoses.

The course provides updates in the field of autism and some current topical issues. The assessment framework links with DSM5 and ICD 10. In addition to training in the use of the DISCO, this course also offers an introduction to the complexities of autism spectrum disorders and their diagnosis.

The course will be presented by Dr Judith Gould, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Dr Sue Sheppard, Specialist Educational Psychologist, with support from the team at The Lorna Wing Centre for Autism.
