In 2015 we set up a bird box in one of our trees at the front of the school. Inside the bird box is a video camera with a microphone which is displayed on a screen in the school's Reception. The aim was to get a pair of birds to nest in the box and to be able to see their progress of nesting and rearing chicks.
Well, nothing happened in year one. However, in 2016 a pair of Blue Tits made a nest and successfully reared several chicks.
This was repeated in 2017 and 2018, and we are pleased to announce that again a pair of Blue Tits (possibly the same pair as in the previous three years) started nesting in the box during the Easter School Break and the female laid several eggs over the last bank holiday weekend.
It is all live on camera and again we are looking forward to watching their progress as are the visitors to school who are waiting in reception.
