We understand the problems for parents and carers that unexpected school closures bring.
At Helen Allison School our approach is that the school will remain open whenever it is safe to do so.
Closing the school due to adverse weather will only be considered as the last option after taking into account the predicted weather conditions and the risk to staff and children in the school.
In the event that we do have to take these steps, we have an SMS emergency text message system and parents/carers are encouraged to provide all mobile phone contact details so they can be updated by text message directly by the school.
We will also update the front page of the school website.
In the event of severe weather conditions it is important to check your Parent mail accounts and listen to the announcements on BBC Radio Kent and Heart FM Radio.
You can also go onto the below website to find out if the school is closed.
Ultimately, the decision should be made by you as the parent/guardian whether you feel it is safe for your child to travel to school.
