Vision, mission and values
A positive school for autistic children
When your child comes to Thames Valley School, they will be surrounded by children and adults who understand autism, and who celebrate them for who they are. They will be taught and supported by knowledgeable, committed and experienced people who believe fully in their potential.
Our vision
Our school’s vision is to enable children who are currently not accessing effective or suitable education to access the highest quality specialist provision and to increase each student's choice, opportunity and achievement.
Our Mission
We want every child who comes to Thames Valley School to be respected and empowered to make positive choices about their own lives - so they achieve beyond what is expected and have rich and varied experiences.
We want staff to have an uncompromising commitment to demonstrating outstanding teaching and learning which embraces the best practice in autism and education. Staff will develop creative and innovative practices and it will be common practice to share these with others, within the school community and beyond.
Our values
We learn from real experience. We've spent over 50 years working together with people on the autism spectrum. No one has more practical knowledge of autism. But we move with the times and we understand that there is always more to learn.
We tell it like it is. We share what we have learned about autism, so that more people can make informed decisions and lead the best lives possible.
We inspire. We celebrate progress, open up new possibilities, spur people into action and motivate change.
We are courageous. We won't accept ignorance or inequality, and we'll never stop pushing for more understanding, greater support and a better world for people on the autism spectrum.
"I love it here because we can personalise the learning to the students."
"He likes the fact that teachers get him, and he doesn’t get shouted at for stuff to do with autism."
