Setting up an online fundraising page is a fantastic way to allow friends, family and followers to support you. Whether you’re holding one big event, spreading your challenges out over months, or sharing your story – they can donate money to you from wherever they are.

1. Set up your page

Have a look at the different online fundraising websites and decide which you are going to use. We have included links below to each website and their easy step by step guidance to setting up an online page. Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving are excellent platforms to raise money through either a sponsored activity or if you are planning an event. Facebook is great to set up an easy birthday or celebration fundraiser.

All you will need is an email address to get started and follow through the website instructions, remembering to select the National Autistic Society when prompted to choose your charity!

2. Tell your story

People are inspired to give when they are connected to a story so make sure anyone who visits your page knows why you’re fundraising for the National Autistic Society. Add photographs, videos and updates along the way to show people just how important it is to support you and your cause.

3. Set a fundraising target

By setting a fundraising target, people are more likely to give to help you reach the target.

4. Include your offline total

If you’re also collecting funds offline using a sponsorship form, or a collection tin, make sure to update your page so family and friends can see the full total you’ve raised. It also allows us to collect all the Gift Aid easily.

5. Share your page

Once your page is looking good and ready to go you can share it far and wide by using the URL link the website will give you. If you have any updates to tell people about during the lead up to the fundraiser, let them know!

6. Thank your supporters

It is a good idea to continually thank your supporters following any donations to your page and once your fundraiser is complete and all the money is collected in. Be sure to post a message of thanks to all your supporters.
