Who is our future Chief Executive?

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve appointed Caroline Stevens as our new Chief Executive. You can find out more about Caroline in this letter.

When does she start working at the charity?

Caroline will start work later this year, in November 2019.

How was she recruited?

We went through a very careful process to recruit Caroline. The Chief Executive plays a vital role in ensuring that our charity delivers on its mission to create a society that works for autistic people. Our trustee, Stewart Rapley, has written this blog, explaining the recruitment process and how the decision to appoint Caroline was made.

What experience will Caroline bring to our charity?

Everyone involved in the recruitment was impressed by Caroline’s experience as Chief Executive of KIDS, a dynamic and growing charity. Caroline’s personal experience as the mother of a young autistic man means that she has a deep understanding of the challenges facing autistic people and the need for both practical support and guidance and long-lasting change in public understanding, practice and policy.

What changes will the new Chief Executive bring?

Caroline will of course spend time getting to know the charity, our priorities, our supporters and staff. One of Caroline’s early priorities will be to pull together our next five year strategic plan. Work on this had previously been delayed, while we appointed our new Chief Executive. The strategy aims to achieve our vision and mission, which will not change.
