There are now a number of employers who are running autism-specific work experience, internships, apprenticeships and recruitment programs. However, one of the areas that autistic job-seekers may struggle with is not having the information and experience they need to understand whether a particular role or workplace will suit them. Opportunities to meet autism-friendly employers in their workplace, and to build the confidence and skills needed to apply for some of these programs are now being created.

Catherine Leggett, Employment Pathways Coordinator, says:

“These kinds of opportunities are so valuable to autistic jobseekers, who may need some extra support around choosing and applying for roles. The events that JP Morgan are running are such a good way to get direct experience of what the employers’ workplace and culture is like – and ultimately help to enthuse and encourage young people to feel more confident about applying for these schemes."

You're invited to join J.P. Morgan’s Autism at Work familiarisation sessions in Bournemouth

Employees are our greatest asset, and we strive to attract talent from the broadest pool to foster innovation, creativity and productivity. There is tremendous power that results from this kind of diversity. In fact, creating a diverse and inclusive environment is critical to our success, and we are deeply committed to hiring and retaining employees from different backgrounds, experiences and locations.

Our Autism at Work program is an initiative to hire people on the spectrum—a traditionally underemployed population—for positions that can put their talents to use while catering to their specific environmental needs.

You are invited to register for two linked sessions in June, where you will learn more about the roles we have, and how the Autism at Work program can support you. You will receive advice and guidance on your CV and preparing for an interview. We will also show you around the Bournemouth Campus and give you an insight into our working environment and culture.

If you are interested, please send your CV to Bournemouth.technology.recruitment@jpmorgan.com and we will be in touch. Please note our roles could be in Operations or Technology. You would need to be available for both sessions.
