Chris Packham

We were delighted that our ambassador, the naturalist and broadcaster, Chris Packham, was honoured by the Queen in the New Year’s Honours list.

Chris was awarded a CBE for services to nature conservation and when we posted about this amazing news we received lots of positive messages for Chris from our supporters. Here are just a couple of the lovely responses:

“His dedication to wildlife and the environment has spanned decades - remember as a youngster watching his show - award long overdue.” – @JamesHockneyLLB

“Well done Chris. Congratulations. My son has Asperger's and you are an inspiration.” – @digicollprod

“Congratulations Chris, very well deserved ! You are an inspiration to autistic children, my grandson loves you and aspires to be us like you when he grows up. He is never happier than when outside emersed in nature, unless he is playing mine craft.” – Christine Bish

“He’s such an amazing role model: not just for people with autism but for everyone. His love of nature is a lesson for us all.” – Megan Loveless

In July, several of our volunteers joined Chris on his biodiversity campaign tour, Bioblitz, at nature reserves in Cambridge, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Our Chief Executive Mark Lever, said: “Huge congratulations to Chris Packham on being awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list. His award is really well deserved.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Chris as our ambassador. Alongside his vital work around conservation, he is also applying passion and honesty to raising awareness of the struggles faced by autistic people and, by championing their skills, successes and potential, he has undoubtedly changed how the public see and value autistic people in their local communities.”
